HIMMELSTAUSCH – EXCHANGE OF SKIES The Berlin sky flies over the sky of Gernika

On 21 September 2019, the Berlin Sky Banner was only able to fly for 6 minutes after take-off from the Oteo airfield (Burgos). It would have needed a northerly wind, but the little wind that came in, was southerly. In addition, the heat and humidity reduced the engine power. Pilot Thomas Hennig, driving his Robin 400, could not gain enough altitude to cross the mountains of the Sierra de Angulo and had to drop the banner prematurely (see video below). The banner descended freely and was retrieved 5 km upstream by Michael Klant, Oier Plaza and Wolfgang Spitz.
